Automation or Stagnation

Navigating CFO Challenges in an Uncertain Economy

Join us to explore this

24-Sept 2025  |  Wild Honey  |  CFOs and senior finance executives

“Despite its rapid evolution, financial management remains surprisingly inefficient. Many tasks remain unautomated, draining productivity and driving up costs”

Forbes, 2024

In an era of inflationary pressures, volatile markets, and tightening margins, today’s CFOs are tasked with doing more with less, while still steering profitable growth. Balancing innovation, risk management, and stakeholder trust has made those trade-offs more difficult than ever.

With so many areas competing for investment, it’s easy to overlook the one function most in need of transformation: finance itself. Only 1% of finance teams have automated over 60% of their function. The rest are stuck in manual, error prone workflows, particularly in AP and global payment processes, costing up to 98% more time than their automated counterparts [McKinsey, 2025].

So how can CFOs move quickly on automation to make finance more strategic, not just cutting costs, but boosting agility, resilience, and opportunity capture?

1

“Finance teams waste approximately 360 hours a year searching for the information that they need” [Forbes, 2024]

2

“Just one in five CFOs are using GenAI tools, and nearly half of those efforts are still in the pilot phase” [McKinsey, 2025]

3

“A staggering 70% of finance teams have automated less than half of their function”

[McKinsey, 2025]
